Several Paris area homeschoolers attended the Don Eddy Basketball Camp held June 4-8, 2012, at Chisum High School. Of the 52 players who attended the day camp, 20% of them were homeschool students.
The Don Eddy Basketball Camp is a one-of-a-kind experience, giving players the opportunity to improve their shooting and 1-on-1 games while developing spiritually as well. They have basketball summer camps at many different times and locations, and they are open to boys and girls ages 8-18.
The mission of Don Eddy Youth Basketball Camps is “to have every student know that this has been a significant week in their life; that it has made a difference in them as a basketball player and as a person. That they have gained the tools that give them a better chance to reach or even exceed their basketball goals while at the same time getting a clearer picture of the life that God has called them to live. That their life will make a difference!”
From their website: “We conduct our camps in a Christian environment, and everything we do is based on scripture and the truth in Jesus Christ. We are non denominational, and we do not promote any particular doctrine or church… We open each morning with an inspiration (based on illustrations of life experiences) and close each evening with devotions.”
The last day of the camp was competition day, and the awards ceremony wrapped up the week. In addition to awards being given for Friday’s various competitions, on each day of the camp, a “hustle award” was given to the players who demonstrated a positive attitude and gave 100% effort on the court.
Of the 88 awards given throughout the week, homeschoolers brought home 20 of them. Congratulations to the following players, and to all the homeschooling students who attended!
